My name is Dani and I am The Wild Mongoose, aiming to take down the cobra that is fast fashion!
I studied fashion in college, graduating with a bachelor’s in Fashion Management. After college, I worked as a buyer for a motorcycle shop. It was when I became a mother of two that I decided I wanted to do something to make a positive impact on the world. I wanted to do something that would show my children the importance of sustainability and the value of hard work. Thus, the Wild Mongoose was born.
Why “Wild Mongoose” you ask?
Well, there’s a few reasons. It could be that friends affectionately call me a mongoose because I’m small and fierce. It could also be that mongoose (mongeese?) are often the underdog in the animal kingdom and I feel that. The main reason, though, is that when I decided to create this website, as a way to share my experiences of living a more sustainable lifestyle, I realized sustainability is wild. Sustainability is as much about giving back to the wild and nature as it is living wild and natural.
The Wild Mongoose is a company focused on reducing carbon emissions and waste through textile conservation. Since the fashion industry is 2nd highest contributor to world carbon emissions, the Wild Mongoose promotes secondhand fashion, clothes mending, alterations, and repurposing as a means to counteract and eliminate fast fashion.
